Sight Research UK started life as the National Eye Research Centre in 1986.
It was founded thanks to the generosity of patients who wanted to support more research into eye conditions to find new and better treatments.
Since our beginnings, we have awarded almost £18m in grant funding to researchers across the UK and we have funded:
- Over 130 research projects across a variety of eye conditions affecting adults and children.
- Over 40 were PhDs studentships which attracted and nurtured young talented researchers into the sector.
Stop the clock on sight loss
Every 6 minutes someone in the UK receives the devastating news that they are going blind. That’s 250 people a day.
Your gift can help to find new sight-saving solutions.
