Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)

An OCT scan takes a cross sectional image of your retina, showing its different layers. This will allow your eye healthcare professional to check the thickness of the different layers, and check for any changes to the structures within it.

An OCT scan is a painless and very quick procedure, which doesn’t require any physical contact with your eye. You may have some eye drops before the scan, which dilate your pupil, and then you will sit in front of the OCT scanner while your eye is scanned by the machine.
